Simple LED lights like ropes are easy to install - requiring nothing more than an electrical outlet into which the string is plugged - but ground, path, and patio fixtures can present some challenges. If you read the instructions for any LED lighting system you buy and are not completely comfortable with the idea of working with electrical systems or going through the required installation steps, it's worth it to pay a professional.

If you want to create a special custom LED lighting display, it may be worth your while to call in a professional to ensure it all works exactly as you want it to. Discuss your designs and plans with your professional to ensure it meets your expectations. Ask the professional to draw up sketches and go over every aspect of the proposed installation before signing a contract and allowing the work to begin.

Benefits of LED Outdoor Lighting

There are many benefits to LED outdoor lighting beginning with their energy efficiency. With electrical rates constantly on the rise, this aspect alone can make LEDs attractive. The flexibility of LEDS, especially when used in ropes, to create custom LED lighting displays makes them a terrific creative tool. In addition, the lights are small and don't take up a great deal of room. LEDs have a long life-span and because they produce less heat they can be placed in close proximity to plants without causing any damage.

Disadvantages of LED Outdoor Lighting

In all honesty, however, there are some disadvantages to LED outdoor lights. They are more expensive, especially when used in profusion, although the initial monetary outlay can be justified given the long life of the lights and their low energy consumption. Some people, however, just don't like the quality of light LEDs produce. It is not "white" light and to some eyes appears eerie and blue. Certainly the light from an LED is not quite as "natural" in appearance as that produced by other, more traditional types of lights.

Many people find that the advantages of outdoor LED lighting outweigh the disadvantages. Even if you do not wish to use outdoor LED lighting for your entire garden or outdoor setting, a simple LED rope lighting system will add something special to your home while more advanced outdoor LED lighting systems have the potential to make your garden truly spectacular.
